[C]: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control Review

Synopsis:
The Japanese government was rescued from the brink of financial collapse by the Sovereign Wealth Fund. For its citizens however life has not improved and unemployment, crime, suicide, and despair are rampant. Kimimaro, raised by his maternal aunt after the disappearance of his father and the death of his mother, is a scholar student whose only dream is to live a stable, ordinary life. One day he meets a man who offers him a large sum of money if he will allow his "future" to be held as collateral.

Review:
[C] is one of those shows that has such an outstanding initial presence, especially in this day and age. The premise is truly engaging as are the characters and how they attempt to deal with the Financial District. This story is initially entertaining and as the plot is revealed you are immediately sucked in and want to know more. The characters are your standard archetypes for an anime, however how they interact with one another and the situation truly makes them seem lifelike. [C]’s art style is creative and vibrant especially in the Financial District. Ideally this anime should have done well especially with the timing of the financial crisis being felt all throughout the world.

My major issue with this series is how rushed everything becomes around episode seven. You are constantly feeling as though you missed large chunks of a well structured story. They could have easily made this series into two twelve episode seasons. Also there is a ton of financial jargon used that will have many confused especially within the first couple episodes. There were a couple times I had to stop and try to remember terminology especially when juggling multiple series. Though I feel that if this series had been broken into two seasons the confusion could have been easily avoided.

Overall it is all about how truly interesting you find the plot. This series had true potential to be a masterpiece, but fell short due to the brevity of the series. It is very unfortunate, but happens quite often in this day and age. Also another folly was not having a manga release that way even if the anime was vague, you could always read the manga and get the entire story. My hopes are for a full length book or manga spin off to further explain this very intriguing plot.
