Yumekui Merry Review

Synopsis:
Ten years ago Fujiwara noticed he had a power to see multicolored auras surrounding people's bodies. Ever since then he's been having a weird dream about a war with cats. One day he meets a mysterious girl that, after being picked on by crows and fallen from a tree, goes to search for her lost hat. Later that day, Fujiwara finds himself in a daydream, being attacked by the same cats he fights at night.

Review:
Yumekui Merry starts off as one of those anime that draws you in at the beginning with its unique story. The concept of a dream world was really interesting as it probably was the main focal point of this whole series. I found that the fight scenes and dream worlds as well with the facial expressions that were made sold the animation of this series. I really loved the voice acting for Merry which was done really well compared to other anime. Overall the enjoyment factor of Yumekui Merry was good enough to warrant watching another season of it if they decide to make one.

The most glaring problems with this series was that the main characters seemed stagnant at times as some episodes were really bland and didn't bring any sense of progression at all. There was one episode in particular that was easy to point out that seemed they were purposely trying to make the series slow down to a snail’s pace for some reason. They tried to make it so you would feel something for the characters when they had an issue of questioning their beliefs but it seemed to backfire because not once did I have any emotional attachment to any of the characters. I am a true believer that music can make any scene better but with this series they could have done better with its timing and setting instead of it feeling like it was random.

Now to end this review, which reminds me that the ending of the Yumekui Merry really was more of a stopping point, leaving us to hope they continue the series. They could have done much better with the ending instead they messed it up and didn't really leave you excited for the continuation of the series if they announce it. Honestly I hope they continue the series because there were so many unanswered questions because they definitely planned to make it a multiple season show, so not getting any of those answers makes the series pointless.
