Kimi ni Todoke Season 2 Review

Synopsis:
Sequel to the first season. Sawako Kuronuma is misunderstood due to her resemblance to the ghost girl from The Ring. But one day the nicest boy in the class befriends her. Lots of blushing and hand holding follow.

Review:
Kimi ni Todoke's continuation was no surprise due to the popularity of the first season, and the 2nd season still delivers the same type of atmosphere, and romance you got from the first. They threw in a male character to spice things up with the romance between Sawako and Kazehaya which made things a little more interesting instead of the same old scenarios from the first season. Voice acting and animation didn't stray from what was in the first season which isn't bad since you would like to know that it stays the same. I really liked how Kurumi would show up every now and then to tell Sawako how stupid she is acting. Other than that everything you would like from the first season stayed the same other than it only focuses entirely on Sawako's and Kazehaya's relationship instead of the other characters from the show.

There are still way too many misunderstandings carrying over from the first season which becomes irritating. You would think it would be toned down but it seemed to be worse than the first season which was annoying to me throughout the entire series up until the great ending. They still persisted with the distortions which were another area I didn't like about the series. It also was irritating how Sawako and Kazekaya couldn't share their feelings with each other and were just constantly in a juggle until the end. It seemed they were trying to drag out the series for too long which slowly weighed on my patience.

At the end of the day when all is said and done the series still captures what the first season did well, but didn't try to change anything with the formula they had at all. That said Kimi ni Todoke 2nd season is still a must watch for anybody who liked the first season since its basically the same approach as the first season but with a real ending. It still wasn't as good as the first season in my opinion, but still delivers the same emotions that you would get from the first season for anybody who liked it.
