Fractale Review

Synopsis:
The story takes place on an island, where a "Fractale System" is beginning to collapse. One day, Clain finds an injured girl called Phryne under a cliff. She disappears leaving a pendant. Clain sets out for a journey with the girl-shaped avatar Nessa to look for Phryne and discovers the secret of the Fractale System.

Review:
While I believed at first glance that this show was going to be boring just by watching the first episode, it actually ended up being a well-paced story about how the earth has gone to rot and the main character Clain goes out on a crazy journey with a lot of new friends that he meets along this journey. The artwork seemed unique; while not mind-blowingly beautiful it still was well above par then some anime. Voice actors suited each character well and I didn't feel like characters were voiced awkwardly in Fractale.

Now to the nitty-gritty of this series while the pacing was well done for 11 episodes it seemed like story was forced to quick with whatever story they were trying to send to the viewer or they were being to slow with whatever story they were trying to make. I was under the impression that it would be longer than 11 episodes and the ending doesn't really quite deliver the epic scale of the story’s premises, but it was a good story nonetheless and still satisfying to an extent. While they tried to be clever with the same joke but it was over used way too much and made me scratch my head wondering why they keep using the same joke around half of the episodes. While the music never seemed out of place or overused it seemed to fit in well with the setting of the series.

Fractale at times can be very dark and gloomy, so people who don't like anything related to that should shy away from this series. Other than that there's no reason for any sci-fi adventure anime fan not to watch this series. While it seemed to have potential to be a lot better it still delivers a satisfying tale from beginning to end.
